How to Root OnePlus 6T Easily?
Step 1: Unlocking the Bootloader
You have to root your device with Magisk. And to flash Magisk, you need TWRP recovery. To install TWRP Recovery on your device, you have to unlock the bootloader of the device. Yes, the process is little bit complicated. But, as we have described the whole process step by step, you can just follow the process, and root your device easily without any issues. Just make sure you follow prerequisites before beginning the steps. If you are ready to root your device, then just begin the bootloader unlock process that we have described below.
To begin the process, you have to do some changes in the Settings option of your device.
- First, go to Settings>About Phone>Tap on build number option 5-6 times. It’ll enable the Developers options settings in the Settings option of your device. After tapping you’ll get the message that developers option has been enabled.
- Now, go to Settings>Developer option. There, you’ll find several advanced developer options. No need to touch anything, you just have to enable 3 things from there.
- Enable Advanced Reboot, USB Debugging, & OEM Unlocking option from the developer option.
- As the OxygenOS of OnePlus comes with Advanced reboot option, you can reboot directly to bootloader of the device from the restart menu.
- So, just press the power button of your device, and click on ‘Bootloader’ option. It’ll boot the device to bootloader.
- Now, connect your device via USB cable to your PC.
- On your PC, go to the ADB and Fastboot folder.
- There, press Shift+Right click and you’ll get the option to ‘Open Powershell Window Here’.
- Now, enter the below command to know if the device is connected or not.
- If it’s showing the device, then enter the below command to unlock the bootloader of your OnePlus 6T.
- Now, when you enter this command, you’ll get a confirmation message on your device that you are going to unlock the bootloader of the device. Just press the volume keys to select ‘Unlock the bootloader’ and press the power button to confirm.
That’s it. You have successfully unlocked the bootloader of the device. Now, follow the next process to install TWRP recovery on your device.
Step 2: Install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 6T
In this step, you have to install TWRP Recovery on your OnePlus 6T device. So, you can follow the below process to do that easily. OnePlus devices comes with it’s own recovery. However, with the stock recovery of the device, we can’t install Magisk on the device. That’s why you need to install TWRP Recovery image on the device to install Magisk .zip file. Follow the below steps to do that.
- First of all, you need to download the special TWRP recovery image for OnePlus 6T. Use the above download links to download the TWRP image on your PC. When you download the TWRP recovery image, just move it to the Adb and Fastboot folder on your PC. Rename the recovery image to twrp.img for simplification.
- Now, boot your OnePlus 6T into recovery mode by pressing the power button and clicking on ‘Bootloader’ option.
- When the device boot into bootloader mode, connect it to your PC via USB cable.
- Now, go to the Adb and Fastboot folder on your PC and press Shift key+Right click.
- Then, click on ‘Open powershell window here’ option.
- Now, enter the below command to boot into TWRP recovery.
- It’ll install the TWRP recovery image on your OnePlus 6T device. Just wait until the completes the process.
- After it finishes flashing the recovery image, enter the following command to reboot your device into recovery.
